More on "Reform"

Who is this "reform" supposed to benefit? The way things seem to be shaping up the only "benefit" is going to be forcing everyone into the Medical Industrial Complex (MIC). This would be good business for the insurance companies, for sure. The Fuzz finds this a bit distasteful. What is happening to our freedom here? But most people are so scared of not having insurance that they'll put up with anything. Here's a news flash- the mortality rate is still 100%.
The Fuzz is not really into socialism, but, if we are going to be forced into this, why should all this borrowed money be given to increase the profits of this MIC? If the government is "mandating" universal participation, they may as well just run the whole thing anyway. But I guess that would hurt a lot of big corporations and their lobbyists.

this article may be of interest. http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/la-oe-rachlis3-2009aug03,0,538126.story

People in the US are bankrupted by health care costs every day. Many who have paid for insurance are kicked out the door by insurance companies as soon as they develop costly illnesses - often for things like "neglecting" to list all pre-existing conditions (often unrelated conditions - like acne) on forms. Our family has been truely lucky in that no one of yet has a serious illness that could cause something like bankruptcy but even in our case I can point to DA's accident and the fact that his medical bills would have been insane and he would still be paying them off had he not bought supplemental insurance on a whim. I don't know all the details in his case, but it is a good example of an unforeseen medical cost that could ruin someone's life. Even hubbies sister is up to her neck in medical bills from her brief stay in hospital for her phantom aneurysm and she had "good" insurance.

anyway, thought you might be interested in the article. I know we don't agree on much politically which is why I don't read this blog and appreciate you keeping it separate from the other "life" blog. This is just a very touchy subject for me because I feel many people are misinformed and large health care companies make money of that fact.
